One of the great things about living in Minneapolis is that we are one of the cities that gets to play host to super-fabulous Macy’s events! This Friday night (Aug. 2) will be the ultimate fabulous event of the year – Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 – at the State Theatre at 8pm. This year’s theme is Fashion In A new Light and the show headliner is Sheryl Crow. PLUS there will also be a performance by Cirque du Soleil, showcasing its Las Vegas productions. Also performing will be Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest winner The Summer
Set, a five-member punk rock group.
Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 looks at fashion in a new light by exploring the mystery and magic of illumination incorporating sophisticated lighting and visual effects. The backdrop for the show is made up of Eighty LED panels comprised of more than 725,000 pixels and totaling nearly 500 square feet will make up the LED wall that serves as the backdrop for the show. Collections featured in this 22nd year of Glamorama will include Jean Paul Gaultier, Philosophy, Rachel Rachel Roy, TALLIA Orange, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend MaxMara, Diesel, as well as a first look at Macy’s newest Impulse collection, Maison Jules. Makeup and hair by Spalon Montage and Lancôme will complete the looks.
After the show at the State Theatre, the glamor continues at the after-party on the 8th floor of the Macy’s Downtown Minneapolis store. The illuminated party space will feature utra-cool sponsor lounges and guests can interact with fun activities. Delicious culinary creations and special libations will help energize a night of dancing to the soundscape of K-Twin 96.3’s DJ Dan.
The event benefits Children’s Cancer Research Fund and their clearly defined goal: to cure childhood cancer. The organization is the largest single contributor to the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center, a world-wide leader in pediatric cancer research. Their support enables researchers to continue their pioneering efforts in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of childhood cancers. Many discoveries funded by the organization have revolutionized the way childhood cancer is treated worldwide.
